For those who have a passion or at least a high interest in cars, spring brings excitement for nice weather and Car Shows. Whether it be for old Chevy, Ford, Dodge, or many of the other long-lost brands of automobiles. We just want to get out and see what is new or your favorite that reminds us of lost times and innocence. I like to see some of the old cars from the early years and how different the builder’s visions have come out in their cars. When you see all the variations of a 32 Ford it makes you want to jump in and take off! But you don’t dare. One, it’s not yours. Two, that Guy or Girl spent a lot of time and money getting it to their vision. Then I look at the late 60’s and early 70’s Roadrunners, GTX’s, Challengers, Mustangs, Camaros and GTO’s like I had in my high school days (wish I still had today). Then you have all the years of Corvettes that you couldn’t afford or had too big of a family for just two seats. You will meet all types of people from the kid just starting to see the auto for the wonder it is, to the old guy with all the stories and cars and everything in between.
I like to go to the big shows to see all the cars and to see all the parts and vendors to see if there is something I just can’t live without. You know that thing that will help you do a better job or that last part that you are looking for to finish or top off your build.
You will walk more in those few hours than you do on a normal day. But, it will be a good day and make your spirit soar. At some point, you will get thirsty and have to get a drink and a snack. Then just when you think you really need to eat something you have to decide if you take the chance of eating from that food vendor you have been smelling all day or leave and get a real meal at a local restaurant that is suggested by the car people. You know the one with the best Steak, Chicken fried Steak, BBQ, or any of the thousand types of specialty restaurants that may be your favorite. You can go and come back or stay as long as you can stand it then go and eat like you never ate before or be so hungry you can’t eat once you start.
In the end, you have ridden the roller coaster of emotions from the what in the world is that to wow I sure miss that time in my life when I had no real cares to speak of. You think back to the day you had your favorite car with the windows down, the wind hitting your face, the feel of the road through the steering wheel, the sounds of engine and exhaust, and the tires on the road. It could have been a car or truck on or off the road but you felt like it was the best time of your life.
If you have an interest in cars of any kind I strongly suggest that you search out and find the shows in your area or a big one and make it a mini vacation from the drudgery and the same ole stuff we do every day to relax and experience the euphoric Deja vu and pure happiness of the day.
